Seventh Action Weeks Against Human Trafficking event

Particularly vulnerable individuals are also exploited in Switzerland for labour and sexual purposes. From 22 September to 25 October, Action Weeks Against Human Trafficking will take place throughout Switzerland under the motto 'Invisible Human Trafficking', supported by fedpol. Around 40 events will be held across the country.

FLACH meeting 2025

Police chiefs from Liechtenstein (FL), Austria (A) and Switzerland (CH) met at fedpol on 10 September for the annual FLACH meeting. They discussed how to maintain efficient policing despite limited resources, the opportunities and risks of AI in law enforcement, and strategies to tackle organised crime. This knowledge sharing is essential for strengthening international cooperation and making real progress in fighting crime together.

Police attachés celebrate 30th anniversary

The legal basis for police attachés was created in 1993, followed by the first posting to INTERPOL in Lyon in 1995. Today, the PA+ network consists of 18 attachés stationed in 11 countries, with cross-accreditation in a further 16 countries. The PA+ network is evaluated annually with the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security and adapted to the ongoing needs of the Swiss security authorities and the security situation. In today's globalised and digitalised world, our police attachés provide reliable networks, foster trust and make a significant contribution to effective international cooperation. PA+ Week, held annually, focuses on knowledge transfer and the strategic orientation of the PA+ network.

Development of the first Swiss biometric identity card

Together with its partners in the cantons and at the federal level, fedpol is currently working on the development of the first biometric Swiss biometric identity card. Like the biometric Swiss passport, this identity card will be equipped with a chip containing biometric data. This will provide enhanced protection against misuse. The introduction is planned for the end of 2026. A non-biometric identity card will continue to be available and may be used within Switzerland.
